The County — The Guardian

About

In 2015, officer-involved shootings were more likely in Kern County, California, than anywhere in the United States. This documentary and interactive project for The Guardian follows the families grieving for their loved ones and calling for justice while also exploring the lives of the officers and deputies who are dealing with a county that has high rates of poverty and drug abuse. This project is part of The Counted — an initiative by The Guardian to document and maintain a database of all officer-involved killings in the US.
